1. What is ICT?
- According to Hartoyo (2009): ICT is generally defined as technology function to support the process of conveying information and communication.
- Oldknow, Taylor and Etlow (2010): ICT means to provide mass-access to information, increasing processing speed, transfer data by using computer technology.
- Input data: using device: keyboard, voice recognition, bar code reader, and etc.
- Store data: hard disk, etc.
- Process the data: sorting it
- Output information: form of report, chart answer
- Communicate: to someone else, by means of internet, information email
2. What make ICT is important?
- ICT is important for daily life which is the use of ICT is to facilitate human life.
- Benefits of ICT for education:
- Simplify learning resources.
- Simplify the learning process.
- Simplify administration.
- Making learning more efficient.
- Enhances creativity.
- Increase interest in learning.

- There is no sign of technology and social revolution slowing down.
- Computer becoming more sophisticated.

- The use of productivity tools, such as ms. word, excel.
- The use of interactive teaching packages, such as cd, video

- The Disadvantages
It seems that technology is going too fast, so communication can be done wherever distances and whenever required.
The fear is sometimes technology will make teacher redundant, and students will lose the social interaction.

What is technology?
'Technology' derived from the word "techno" which means technique, art, or skill and "logos" which means science. Therefore, technology can be defined as a scientific knowledge of art or skill.
- Gonzales (2005) "technology is a human activity which transform reality (natural and social) in creative way."
- Speser (2012) "technology is a proven solution."
- Dusek (2006) categorizes 3 characteristics of a technology, namely:
- Technology as a tool (transportation)
- Technology as a rule (clothes)
- Technology as a system (school system)

- Usefulness indicators of success: to ease activity, productivity and performance increase.

- The Disadvantages:
Technology is at the top of the curve which is a big umbrella in this hierarchy. Again, technology can be understood from 3 sides according to (Selwyn: 2016) namely, as (1) a human activity using all knowledge and skills to change something for the better.

Instructional Technology is a small sub-technology of educational technology that focuses on change only in terms of the teaching and learning process (instructional).
